Xeng Zulueta | Makeup Artist

PROFILE [close]
Born and raised in Manila, Xeng's "make-up call" came after graduating from De La Salle University - College of St. Benilde with an AB degree in Human Resources. Her 3-year stint in luxury fashion retail, under the brands DKNY, Emporio Armani, Prada & Manolo Blahnik was the spark that ignited the flames and began her love affair with makeup artistry.

Not knowing how to draw or paint to save her life, she took the first step and pursued makeup and hairstyling courses at the London School of Beauty & Makeup, OnSet Salon & Motion Picture Hair Academy in Santa Monica and Dinair Airbush Systems in North Hollywood. Soon after, the big break came when L'Oreal hired her as the chief makeup artist of the Japanese cult brand Shu Uemura. Dedicating six years of her life exclusively to the brand, with yearly training in Tokyo, she became the first Filipino Shu Uemura Accredited artist and promoted to International Elite Artist status alongside 14 others in the world while mentoring a team of local artists.

Her more than 12-years in the business has earned her nominations as makeup artist of the year at the MTV Style Awards and MEGA Magazine's Fashion Awards. Countless magazine covers, fashion & beauty editorials, ad campaigns, runway shows, television, bridal and collaborations with top photographers, she was named one of Manila's "creative movers and shakers" under the age of 30 by The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Though she first made her mark as an avant garde and high fashion makeup artist, she is no stranger to the "other side" of the business such as managing and training personnel, point-of-sale operations including branding and identity for luxury retail.

Xeng is currently residing in Manila as a freelance makeup artist.
